Is it just me, or is it incredibly difficult to find a healthy snack? Whenever I feel a bit peckish, I usually spoon a generous amount of peanut butter to keep me going. But as I’m about to kickstart my health journey (again), I’m determined to boot harmful habits, like my bad snacking. One thing I now always have on hand are rice cakes because there are so many ways to enjoy them. As the weather’s been warming up Down Under, I’ve really enjoyed my rice cakes with this refreshing and classic trio: Avocado, Coriander and Lime. These three are a perfect combo because they’re opposite flavours that compliments one other. Zestful, citrusy and smooth. Together, it’s the perfect balance.

Moroccan Sweet Potato & Chickpea Soup
While summer is only a couple of months away (for us Down Under), I’m still in love with my soups. This one that I’m rolling out today features three of my favourite things: moroccan flavouring, sweet potato and chickpeas. Because the spices in this soup are so scrumptious and delicious, its hard not to tuck in as soon as it’s ready! Plus, not only does it taste fantastic, it gives you a great dose of Vitamin A and Vitamin C (and it knocks out 2/5 daily vegetables… what more could you want?).

Whitehart Bar | Melbourne
They say everything happens for a reason, and truer words couldn’t have been spoken when Kyal and I found ourselves at Whitehart Bar in Melbourne. After surviving the crowds at the annual AFL Grand Final parade, we headed to our favourite lunch spot, only to find it closed. We were desperate for a feed, but I have a strict “no fast food” rule when we’re in the city. Basically f it’s food I can order back home, it’s a no go. So we decided to wander the streets in search of a nibble. Heading down Little Bourke Street, we both happened to turn our heads down a laneway. The bar we spotted immediately caught our eye, and once we saw (and smelt) Bluebonnet Barbecue serving up scrumptious meat plates, our decision was made.
Making Long Commutes Productive
My life has drastically changed over the last three months. I’ve moved out, moved interstate and moved in with my boyfriend all in one hit. I’ve started my first full-time, professional job. I’m having to maintain and run a home as well as coping with waves of homesickness. But the biggest change I’ve adapted to is my long commute between home and work. On a good day it will take me an hour and a half on public transport. On a bad day it’ll be at least two hours. Compare this back to Perth, where everything in the suburbs was a ten-minute drive.
While long commutes can be a pain in the ass, I’m also learning they’re full of potential. If you know what to do, you can make them incredibly productive, and even make them the best part of your day.
