FRIYAY: Honey, Honey

Raise your hand if Friday arvo is your favourite time of the week! I have to be honest – I forgot how good Fridays were while at university, because everyday felt like Friday. But now that I’m working full-time in advertising, I have a new found appreciation for the end of the working week.

However, while I’m filled with exhilaration on the commute home,  I’m always torn between my Friday night options. Do Kyal and I head out to the drive-in and gorge on warm, jam donuts? Do we head into town to enjoy a sneaky drink or two? Or do we stay at home in our tracky-dacks, eating leftovers and watching Riverdale? It’s a tricky decision, but the ‘Stay at Home’ option usually wins, and I love it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with lowkey lovin’ a night in.

Being a self-proclaimed homebody, I love to treat myself during my Friday night R&R’s. So for each month, I am going to have a theme (and a budget of course) to turn my Friday into Friyay. To kick off this series, I’m starting with Honey, Honey. Y’know, cause it’s the last month of spring, and in spring the bees are about, and bees make deliciously gooey honey. Anyway, we’ll just get started!

T2 Honey Honey Loose Leaf

Seeing as I am having a coffee-free month, I’m really going to utilise my love for tea to keep me going! For November, I am treating myself to T2’s Honey Honey, which is a South African honey bush tea that’s similar to roobios. As an honourary sweet tooth, I initially added some honey, but quickly learnt not to over do it. My first brew was almost sickeningly sweet, which is saying something coming from me!

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

I can be pretty hit and miss with poetry books. If I’m reading one, it has to be gripping and pull at the heartstrings. And it can’t be unnecessarily complicated either, otherwise you’ll just lose me! But after flicking through the first few pages of Rupi Kaur’s Milk & Honey, I knew this was a poetry book for me. It was emotive, heart wrenching and it didn’t beat around the bush. While I’ve only had a quick glance, I’m looking forward to reading it throughout November. Although I suspect this is one of those books that I won’t be able to put down!

Black Honey Nectar Tea Candle

When it comes to R&R, candles are an essential! I actually stumbled upon this little beauty in Target and was surprised to find it’s scent was a lot more powerful than I originally gave it credit for. Plus, it’s simple black design makes it’s the perfect fit as it compliments the “hero” features in my living room.

LUSH Brazened Honey Fresh Face Mask

Because I’ve only recently progressed from financially struggling student to slight less financially struggling account executive, I’ve never invested much in face masks. Seriously, until recently, the only face mask I’ve bought was so to solely get free shipping for my Urban Outfitters order. Lately though, I’ve indulged in a few face masks, including LUSH’s Brazened Honey. Honey as a range of skin benefits, including  antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant and antifungal. What I loved about this mask was how amazing it exfoliated my skin. Admittedly, my skin probably doesn’t need too much of a scrub, but it’s so refreshing after a whole working week wearing make up. Brazened Honey also made my skin incredibly soft (thanks to the free range eggs, honey and almond oil) and gave it a healthy glow. Definitely my favourite face mask so far!

LUSH Honey Lip Scrub and Kangaroo Island Honey Kissed Lip Balm

The LUSH Honey Lip Scrub and Kangaroo Island Honey Kissed Lip Balm are like the power couple for luscious lips.

Last Christmas I was gifted the balm, and to be truthful, I was sceptical. My lips can be very picky and there are only a few lip balms that actually work for me. Almost a year later and it’s one of my favourites – especially before bed. It has a very spreadable texture, and a little goes a long way. What I love most is that my lips are actually soft and moisturised when I wake up each morning.

Pair it with my first (and favourite) LUSH crush – a LUSH Lip Scrub – and it’s like a match made in heaven! Honestly, they’re an essential in my beauty bag, and I won’t apply lipstick without a good scrubbin’. Unfortunately the tub I’ve currently been using is slightly dated, so the small granules have stuck together to form large chunks. But now that I have a fresh little pot of LUSH Honey Lip Scrub, I can return to my regular routine!

Ooo your Friday sounds relaxing! I did homemabe feet spa yesterday, ended up with a face mask and had a glass of wine. So relaxing!

I usually spend my Sundays meal prepping and being miserable that I have work the next day, so I should probably do a pamper on a Sunday too 😉 Just to freshen up again before the week starts!

Hi Justine, I really want to read Rupi Kaur’s The Sun and her Flowers – seems like a great read! Do you have any other recommendations for poetry books? 😀

I really want to read her latest one too! Hopefully I can get my hands on it too. Probably my favourite poet is my dear friend 2wentysixletters. Always grips my heart!

Thank goodness T2 recently opened up here in Glasgow or I’d be incredibly homesick right now! This is such a fab theme, and great idea! xx

Tell me about it! I’m lucky to have a T2 down the road, but sadly no LUSH or Kikki.K… hopefully one day! Thankfully I work in the city so I can always swing by my fave stores after work!

It’s definitely worth popping your head into T2 – even if it’s for the free testers. Heading into summer they’re displaying heaps of yummy ice teas. But in terms of warmer teas, Caramel Brownie and New York Breakfasts are my faves!
Funny, I’m hit and miss with the scent of honey too. Sometimes it reminds me of a really disgusting honey and lemon drunk my dad made for me when I was younger. But I love the taste!

i Love this! This is something every single one of us ladies should do; Invest some real time and energy into ourself. Make ourselves feel good, we need to lift our own spirits. By Friday my body is shattered – the more TLC I give myself the more rejuvenated I’ll feel the following Monday morning!
