Now that it’s December, I’ve been livin’, breathin’, eatin’ and drinkin’ Christmas. One way I’ve been getting into the Christmas spirit is with these delicious Spiced Apple Ciders. Made with my favourite alcoholic beverages, these cocktails are not only scrumptious but easy to make too!
The added benefit of this recipe is that it makes your house smell amazing! Who needs a special edition Christmas candle when you can have the spices simmering on the stove and wafting through your house? Honestly, my excitement for Christmas increased tenfold while I was brewing these up.
While they might not be ideal for hot Australian Christmases, they’re just as tasty when served chilled and on the rocks. One thing’s for sure, I’m looking forward to drinking plenty of these while out on the balcony this Christmas.
- 6 pack apple cider (~ 2 litres)
- 6 cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise
- 1/2 tsp whole cloves
- 1/2 cup spiced rum
- Apple slices to garnish
- Pour cider into a large pot and add cinnamon sticks, star anise and cloves. Simmer for 15-20 minutes
- Remove pot from hot plate. Once cool, strain cider to remove spices
- Add spiced rum and garnish with apple and cinnamon sticks before serving
So there you have it! A delicious and jolly spiced cider to enjoy this holiday season. Being mindful of my health goals in December, I used Pure Blonde Low Carb Crisp Apple Cider, which has 60% less sugar & 50% less carbohydrates than regular cider. Who says you can’t enjoy alcohol while also watching your consumption?
