While Australia’s summer is drawing to a close, we still have a couple of weeks to devour one of my favourite beverages: iced tea. I’ve enjoyed them more regularly thanks to the large T2 Iced tea Jug Kyal bought me for Christmas. Trust me when I say, it’s turned into one of our kitchen essentials! There’s always a fresh brew in the fridge at our home.
Because I’m learning how to take care of my mind and body this year, one of the changes I’m making is a reduction in soft drink and alcohol. A freshly brewed jug of iced tea is a great substitution for these drinks. Nowadays, you won’t see me at the drive-in unless I’ve got a flask of iced tea to keep me company.
There are still many more iced tea combos I’m dying to try, but these are hands down my top three for this summer:
T2 Turkish Apple + T2 Strawberries & Cream was one of the first iced tea combos we brewed this year, and it’s still a favourite today. While Strawberries & Cream smells a-maz-ing on its own, the Turkish Apple tisane adds that little bit extra with its sweet and sour taste. Make sure to top up the jug with ice, apple slices and fresh strawberries to emphasise the tea’s fruity flavour.
I’ve been a Pina Colada fanatic for a while now. Fun Fact: I spent my four hours singing “Escape the Pina” on the bus to Year 11 camp. I then had the song stuck in my head for a further four days. So yeah, I guess you could say I’m pretty devoted to Pina Coladas. That being said, imagine my surprise when I walked into my local T2 (as I do every Saturday) and saw a stack of T2 Colada Paradiso boxes calling my name. It was one of the quickest purchase decisions I’ve ever made.
While the tea itself isn’t as powerful or flavoursome as the T2 Turkish Apple + T2 Strawberries & Cream, I did enjoy the hints of coconut. For future brews I’ll be sure to add fresh pineapple slices, which should give it more kick.
Ahh – my favourite combo out of all three. Seriously, a glass of this doesn’t last long in my house. What I love most about this brew is how similar it tastes to my Spiced Apple Cider recipe. However, it’s flavours are more subtle and sweeter. I’ve already dedicated an entire air tight container for this combo so I can enjoy it all year round – rain, hail or shine! Also, if you’re new to the whole “brew your own iced tea” thing, this is the one to start of on. It’s so tasty, you definitely won’t look back.
Next summer I’m looking forward to experimenting with new flavours and brands. In particular, Tea Garden Co. have a great range of fruit blends. No doubt I’ll be getting my hands on when the weather warms up again. Was there a combo that I missed on this list? Make sure to tell me your favourite iced tea flavours in the comments!
