Soothing Dry Winter Skin

Soothing Dry Winter Skin

Admittedly I’ve had a great run with my skin. Because it’s naturally dry, I hardly ever have break outs. On the odd occasion I do, it’ll be one or two tiny pimples with a narrow sea of red surrounding them. While living in warm and sunny Perth, my dry skin was ridiculously low maintenance. But since moving to Melbourne’s chillier climate, it’s copped a beating. I’m talking dry, flakey texture, clutters of pimples and red blotches that spread across my cheeks and chin to make it look like some kind of alternative beard. Safe to say, it’s been a nightmare.

The obvious solution is to slap on some moisturiser, so I have. I started out with Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser because it’s not heavy and balmy. Even though I’d only be applying light layers of it, it was enough to cause a break out. That’s the problem with my skin: it’s temperamental. You do nothing and it dries out. You do something and it freaks out.

Eager to find a solution, I headed to LUSH for something a tad more formulated to my concerns. Ultimately I was weighing up between three choices:

  • Celestial: Purposely designed to help dry, troubled skin
  • Vanishing Cream: Perfect for wear underneath make up. Because it’s been so hard to nail my make up routine with my blemished and scaly skin, I was definitely considering this as my solution, although I was worried that it’s matte finish would make my skin look even more drier
  • Imperialis: Was a part of my initial online research, but the LUSH skin guru recommended it because it’s ideal for restoring and balancing skin

In the end, I treated myself to Celestial and have not regretted it! I was a tad skeptical in regards to the price and size, as it’s $29.95 for a pot of 45g. I was also worried that I’d race through it and have to replace it every fortnight. But I’ve hardly made a dent in it after my first few uses. It spreads so easily and has such great coverage. Plus, its use of almond oil and fresh dove orchid extract has done wonders. Not only has it hydrated my skin (without going overboard), it’s soothed out all the red blemishes I was experiencing – result!

While I’ve been mad crazy for LUSH’s lip scrubs, bath bombs and FUN, this is the first time I’ve indulged in a regular, everyday product and I can’t wait to try out some more in the coming months.

I’d never batted an eyelid at their every day products because there’s too many to chose from! Would definitely recommend checking it out, they sell small testers too (but that may only be an option online).

I’ve always been so daunted by how big their product range is, but it’s true, they cater for all skin types! I’m looking forward to trying a cleanser and toner of theirs, but I’ll need a LUSH guru to guide me!

I’ve never tried anything other than the bath bombs and solid shampoos (which are insane) from Lush… This looks interesting though!

I’m very much they same and just stuck to their bath bombs or lip scrubs for a long time. Unfortunately I don’t have a bath at my new apartment, but their FUN tubs are awesome for the shower (and smell amazing!)

Being a bloke, looking after our skin is not something on the top of our to do list. However, having noticed how dry my skin becomes sometimes,I try to moisturize as much as I can. I think we men can learn a thing or two on how to look after our skin from you ladies

I have to confess, I never put skin care high on my to do list either! But different climates and seasonal changes are definitely giving me a big wake-up call!

Either my skin has gotten drier with age (I’m nearly 44 1/2) or it’s the colder winters, but I have to slather on some goopy stuff once Fall comes on!

I think the colder winters definitely give our skins a massive shock! Even before I moved I’d get small patches of eczema in winter but it’s never been this temperamental!

That sounds lovely! I’m using Skindrink by Lush and it saved my skin. I should try this one out as well as this sounds wonderful!

I did consider this one too! I was worried it’d have a bit too much moisture and add to my mini-break outs. Celestial has been amazing! Can’t believe how much it’s improved my skin!

I think that my skin is similar to yours – almost the same problems.. I have never used their products but I should take a look to see what can I find for myself. 🙂

Would 100% recommend checking them out and asking one of their gurus if you’re not sure – they’re always incredibly helpful! Celestial is amazing though, and you can buy little tester tubs to see how you like it.

Hmmm this is interesting. I already have my favorite product, but I am a bit curious about this.

Which one’s your favourite product? I’ll have to check it out! Prior to Celestial I’d never had a favourite face product, but I do now.

I keep hearing praises about Lush’s line, thougj I’ve never had the opportunity to try it out. My skin is quite literally bipolar depending upon the moon, sun, and astrological Venus. I may have to try this out the next time I hit one of my dry spells.

Imperialis is apparently really good for temperamental skin too! Helps to balance your skin if it can’t make up its mind 🙂

Your skin is similar to mine. It’s very dry sometimes.
I heard about these products but have never tried them before. Khm, maybe now I will think about that. The products really seem amazing. 🙂

It’s been about two months now since I’ve started using Celestial and it’s done an incredible job! My skin never flares up with red patches or flakey spots. Plus, I still haven’t made a dent in it! I’ve also started using their I Love Juicy shampoo and American Dream conditioner. My hair can get very frizzy and poofy, especially around the roots, and both have tamed my hair so much! x
